When a subtitle offset fixes sync — and when it does not
A constant delay and gradually increasing drift are different problems.
Check the beginning and end
If every subtitle is late by the same amount, a single negative offset may help. Test a cue near the start and one near the end.
Avoid hiding timing drift
If the mismatch grows through the video, check for a different edit, playback speed, or source timing issue. A constant offset will not correct that drift.
Review after shifting
Negative offsets can move early cues before zero. This tool clamps cue times to zero and omits cues that would have no positive duration. Always preview the exported file.
